For anything useful you don’t need, keep a box outside your house for people to help themselves, or advertise on Freecycle.

Pros:

Reduced food miles, zero air miles, reduced pollution, reduced raw materials use, money saving. Helping to lower your carbon footprint.

Cons:

Less income for third world countries that export food, clothing or manufactured goods.

Imported products may have lower carbon footprints than UK ones e.g. tomatoes grown in warm climates.
